Course Guide: Noosa Springs Golf & Spa

  • Graham Papworth design (1999) - 25 years strong
  • Set between Noosa National Park and Lake Weyba
  • Par 72, 6,180m - rewards accuracy over power
  • Resort-style layout with world-class spa

The Backstory: Highly rated by the lads - Russ’s cousin played here recently and rated it his favourite on the coast. Nestled between the lush Noosa National Park and picturesque Lake Weyba, this Graham Papworth design offers a scenic contrast to the links-style courses. Spring-fed lakes feature throughout, and the relatively flat terrain makes it easy to walk. The 10:22am tee time means a civilised start and time for breakfast first.

Course Guide: Twin Waters Golf Club

  • Top 6 Resort Course in Australia
  • Peter Thomson & Mike Wolveridge design
  • Signature Hole 8 modelled on St Andrews Road Hole
  • Carts booked - pay on the day

The Backstory: Designed by 5-time British Open champion Peter Thomson (the only golfer in the 20th century to win The Open three years running, 1954-56). Thomson was obsessed with traditional links golf and it shows here - pot bunkers everywhere like moon craters, push-up greens with subtle undulations, and a design philosophy that rewards the thinking golfer over the big hitter. The 8th hole is the signature - a 379m par 4 modelled on St Andrews’ famous Road Hole, but with water instead of a road. The bunker beside the green is as nasty as the original. Thomson passed away in 2018 but left behind 180+ courses worldwide. This one’s been here since 1991 and helped put the Sunshine Coast on the golf map.
